Are you kidding me, you can watch the History of the Main Complaint on YouTube? I had no idea, and will now make up for lost time. I haven’t seen this video in years, and forgot so many intricacies… the phone and stamp inside the ribs, the prodding stethoscopes, the eyes in the rear-view mirror… it’s all gorgeous, and it’s all tragic.

Boo Ritson
Sometimes I’m convinced that a great name is what’s standing between an artist and a showcase by the Saatchi website. But this work is cool, which means that the name only helped guide things along. Boo, a lady, paints people. With actual paint on their actual bodies. Then she photographs them. I dig.

That’s kind of what I imagine goes through Ellen Von Unwerth’s head when she wakes up, and then she gets a coffee and calms down a little bit. I always joke that bondage should stay in your parents’ basement dungeon where it belongs, but in Von Unwerth’s case, it’s everywhere.
