Heroes: Jane Lynch

Filed under: Genius, Hurrah — corona @ 12:57

Everytime I see Jane Lynch on screen it makes me smile. I feel like it would be really difficult to take her seriously in a dark role, not that she couldn’t pull it off or anything, but there’s just so much light behind her eyes that I would surely chuckle when I should be sobbing. I think she steals pretty much every scene she’s in.

She did a particularly great job in the series, Party Down, featuring two other favorites of mine, Ken Marino and Martin Starr. If you have NetFlix, it’s worth a watch.

True Blood

If you haven’t caught up with True Blood, maybe it’s time, hmm? It doesn’t have as much to do with sucking blood as it does with basic human needs and emotions. There’s greed, lust, kindness, loyalty, attraction, repulsion, murder in the name of Jesus, shape shifting, crime solving, and beer guzzling, and it’s only the middle of season 2. Who knows what Alan Ball will come up with if they let him continue. Oh, but a disclaimer: there’s nudity, killings, and fighting abound. If you have a sensitive stomach, stick with Entourage.

Stills:

Beside the insane story lines (seriously, they’re crazy) and the wild hijinks, the images are gorgeous. It just so happens that vampires can’t be out in the daylight, so we have lots of dark environments with soft lights, which makes for intensely deep colors. Thanks, Alan Ball’s DPs. (Matthew Jensen and Romeo Tirone, I guess)
