I have to be honest, I haven’t been looking at much art lately. Actually, let’s back up. I look at art ALL THE TIME. I teach it, so I’m forced to deal with it more than anyone ever should (except for art history PhDs, who deserve to suffer more than the rest of us). Sometimes I get tired of it though. How many Cindy Sherman lectures does it take to make someone go crazy? More than seven, because I’m still half-sane. I’ll keep you updated. What I’ve been doing instead is watching this British show called Never Mind the Buzzcocks. I guess it’s been around forever, but England is a really old place, so that’s appropriate. What it consists of is a main host, and two teams answering quiz questions. The two teams have recurring captains like Noel Fielding (the most mod of the elves in Lothlorien). The teams are usually filled with British semi-celebrities, but sometimes real ones too, like Amy Winehouse. I’m so addicted and I want to see more, but there aren’t any DVDs on sale on Ebay. Does anyone have this recorded and playable in the US?
Oh, and I picked this episode at random. It starts slow, but it builds up at the end of the first video thanks to Jermaine Jackson, and picks up in the second video. Plus, David Cross is in it. And Noel Fielding. And they sing together. And then they kiss. Passionately. With their eyes closed.
