Ron Mueck

Have you ever imagined your grandma so small you could fit her in your pocket? It would be great. She would constantly remind you of how you’ve failed her, all from the comfort of your sport coat! Ron Mueck is great at making these dreams come true. He creates the most life-like, horrifyingly exaggerated sculptures of people of all ages. And even though critics like Jonathan Jones from The Guardian find his work “brainless” (http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/2006/aug/09/comedy.edinburgh20063) I think it’s pretty impressive that Mueck can shove a gigantic baby in a room and people will Ooh and Aah, even though it could be one of the most revolting things you’ve ever seen in your life. Newborn babies are gross. Giant newborn babies are revolting. I love it.
