These really, really make sense. Drawings (and whispers directly into my heart) by Natalya Lobanova.

This lovely video has been circulating widely recently. Hilarious and true.

I love the DirecTV commercials with the Russian billionaire who owns a miniature giraffe. Now, it looks like the DirecTV guys created a little website from the point of view of miniature giraffe breeders, complete with a live farm cam and photos of the first mini giraffe breeder.

I wasn’t really a huge fan of Lisa Kudrow until I saw The Comeback, a great scripted-as-a-documentary (mockumentary?) show that was taken off the air way too soon. It was a smart and funny satire, and I own it, if anyone wants to borrow it. I can’t even find the best part on youtube, where Valerie Cherish is wearing a cupcake and punches the show’s writer. It’s genius. She’s also been pretty great in movies. More Kudrow, please.

Watched the film Tiny Furniture tonight, and was really into it. The deadpan humor fit right in with the uncomfortable pauses, tense relationships and dead hamsters (okay, it was just one dead hamster, but I couldn’t stop the plurals). I didn’t realize how beautiful Laurie Simmons is, or how much I miss living in New York. After the movie, Jaime and I went to an awesome event called “Small Foods,” where an array of tiny versions of real-life meals were spread out (completely no relation to the movie… are small things in vogue now that we’re all so stupidly obese?). Two mid-sized thumbs up.
Also, Lena, if you’re reading this, your Twitter feed is funny. Nice job!
Stills from film below. I couldn’t find my favorites, like the frozen hamster face in a Ziploc, Jed shirtless in bed, or teeth brushing in Oberlin(?) fountain. These will do for now.
